Holdingford School Board Briefs

A School Board Work Session was held June 5, 2019.  Mr. Swenson updated the Board on the building progress. The architects and engineers are reviewing the cafeteria/student lounge area, some revisions will be needed due to the load-bearing wall that is to be removed, and the high school entrance/commons area is in the final design stage. The Digital Trophy Case is going to be part of the new commons area that will encompass history and current events. The new classroom addition will require a sewer line to be tied into the existing elementary causing some staff relocations for one year. The front entrance remodel/expansion will also cause staff relocations for one year. The new roof is nearly on schedule after a few rain delays. Next POC meeting 6/13/19.

Mr. Stang reported on the ECFE meeting held on 5/15/19. He gave staffing updates and talked about parent involvement night/days and room assignments.

Ms. Heinze presented budget estimates including revenue and expenditures with the estimated balances brought forward.  Included in the expense proposal are an additional fourth grade section, salary increases, and a 2% increase in supplies and utilities. Included in the revenue proposal are LOR/capital savings, state gen ed increase, the transportation grant and safety grant. Ms. Heinze also presented other capital requests and curriculum cycle requests for 2019-2020 some of these may be approved once she gets the LTFMP updated. She informed the Board that the Renewal of the Board Approved Referendum Authority was moved up to June 30th by state. This will be an action item at the regular June Board meeting.

Mr. Stang updated the Board on the elementary hiring process and will have recommendations for 1st grade, 3rd grade, 6th grade, possible Kindergarten and a possible 4th grade Teacher positions at the June 19th regular Board meeting.

Superintendent Evaluation Summary Mr. Swenson recapped his goals and accomplishments. Moving forward updated goals will be established at the July 10th Work Session.

The Board will be working with Greg Vandal in August to update the District Mission. 

The next work session will be Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the Boardroom
