    Notice is hereby given that the Board of Appeal and Equalization for the City of Melrose shall meet on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at the Melrose City Center. The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor, and to determine whether corrections need to be made.

    If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office to discuss your concerns. If you are still not satisfied with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local board of appeal and equalization. The board shall review the valuation, classification, or both if necessary, and shall correct it as needed. Generally, an appearance before your local board of appeal and equalization is required by law before an appeal can be taken to the county board of appeal and equalization.

Regular School Board Minutes – Melrose Area Public Schools

Monday, March 27, 2017 – 7:00 p.m.

Chair Heller called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Members present: Mrs. Feldewerd, Mr. Dufner, Mrs. Uphoff, Mr. Heidgerken, Mr. Tomford, Mrs. Winter and Mr. Heller. Also present was: Mr. Rich, Mrs. Jiskra and Mr. Anderson.

Mrs. Feldewerd moved, with a second by Mrs. Winter, to approve the agenda. The Motion was unanimously carried.

Mr. Dufner moved, with a second by Mrs. Feldewerd, to approve the February/March 2017 bills in the amount of $1,941,950.42. The Motion was unanimously carried.

Nothing to report for Open Forum.

Mrs. Winter moved, with a second by Mr. Heidgerken, to approve the following consent Agenda Items:

• Minutes from the February 27, 2017 Regular Board Meeting

• Donations/Grants:

- City of Melrose - $9,250.00 for the Summer Rec Program

- Central MN Credit Union - $21,000.00 for a varsity baseball     field scoreboard

Mr. Dufner moved, with a second by Mrs. Winter, to approve an additional baseball coach.  The Motion was unanimously carried.

Mrs. Uphoff moved, with a second by Mrs. Winter, to approve an additional golf coach.  The Motion was unanimously carried.

Mrs. Uphoff moved, with a second by Mrs. Feldewerd to approve the 2017 ALC & High School HVAC improvements Prime Bids to:

• General Construction – Boser Construction in the amount of $820,000.00

• Mechanical – St. Cloud Refrigeration in the amount of $944,000.00

• Electrical – Freeport Electric in the amount of $188,450.00

• BAS Controls – Johnson Controls in the amount of $153,848.00

• Fire Protection – Breth-Zenzen Fire in the amount of $62,440.00

• Roofing – McDowall Company in the amount of $84,600.00

• Balancing – T&B Associates in the amount of $14,950.00

The Motion was unanimously carried.

During our next board meeting we will take a tour of the ALC at 6 p.m.

Laurie Fevig gave a presentation of the West Central Education District. No action taken.

Mrs. Rich gave a presentation of the National Food Service Lunch Program Equipment Grant in the amount of $19,201.34 from the Minnesota Department of Education. No action taken.

Mr. Heidgerken moved, with a second by Mrs. Uphoff, to approve the Food Service Joint Purchasing Agreement with St. Cloud Area Schools District #742. The Motion was unanimously carried.

The Board took a break at 8:35 a.m.

The Board was back in session at 8:47 p.m.

Mr. Rich reviewed the 2016-17 & 2017-18 Budget process. No action taken.

Mrs. Feldewerd moved, with a second by Mr. Heidgerken to approve the following resignations:

• Sara VanBeck – Reading Interventionist – Effective April 4, 2017

• John Beek – 4 Hour Custodial Position – Effective March 24, 2017

• Doreen Lemke – Student Services/MARSS Coordinator – Effective July 31, 2017

• Mary Prax Williams – Speech/Language Clinician – Effective at the end of the last contracted day for the 2016-17 school year

• Renee Rich – Director of Food Service – Effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year

• Tom Rich – Superintendent – Effective at the end of the 2016-17 school year

• Josh Meyer – Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach

    The Motion was unanimously carried.

    Mrs. Feldewerd moved, with a second by Mrs. Winter, to approve the following contracts:

• Andria Beste – Math Teacher

• Wendy Barutt – School Success Coordinator Notice of Assignment for 2017-18 and 2018-19

    Administrative and Board Reports were given.

    Mr. Rich and the Board held a discussion on Superintendent search options. No action taken.

    Chair Heller adjourned the meeting at 9:59 p.m.
