NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that The Melrose Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. on April 29, 2019, at the City Center, 225 First Street NE, in the City of Melrose, for the purpose of giving consideration to the Rezoning and Comprehensive Plan Amendment request proposed by the City of Melrose for 2 parcels, owned by the Church of St. Mary. The parcels are legally described as Lot 1, Block 2 and Lot 2, Block 2, Church of St. Mary, in the City of Melrose, Stearns County, Minnesota.

The Rezoning is an amendment to City of Melrose Zoning Ordinance No.1989-1-A, as amended, and adopted by reference as Chapter 153 of the City of Melrose Code of Ordinances.  The zoning designations of the parcels are proposed to change from primarily R-1 Single Family Residential with a small amount of C-2 Commercial to P Public which will allow the school to operate a daycare.  

The Comprehensive Plan Current and Future Land Use Map already shows primarily Public/Semi-Public/Institutional, with some right-of-way (now vacated) and Commercial (former funeral home land).  Reguiding Current and Future Uses of both parcels to Public may be appropriate at this time.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON REZONING AND COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that The Melrose Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. on April 29, 2019, at the City Center, 225 First Street NE, in the City of Melrose, for the purpose of giving consideration to the Rezoning and Comprehensive Plan Amendment request proposed by the City of Melrose two parcels, owned by the Allan J Dufner Revocable Trust.  The two parcels currently have mini-storage uses.  The parcels are 1010 5th Ave. NE (Parcel number 66.36455.0010) and the parcel immediately to the west (Parcel number 66.36455.0030).

The parcels are legally described as the West 377.14’ OF the South 231’ OF the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter east of the road including (2+/- acres) AND the South 231’ of the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter East of the road less the western 377.14 ft. thereof.  (3 +/- acres), in the City of Melrose, Stearns County, Minnesota.  

The rezoning is an amendment to City of Melrose Zoning Ordinance No.1989-1-A, as amended, and adopted by reference as Chapter 153 of the City of Melrose Code of Ordinances.  The zoning of the parcel is proposed to change from RMH Mobile Home Subdivision to I-2, Light Industrial or another appropriate commercial or industrial district.  The RMH district was removed from the Zoning Ordinance in 2015.  I-2 may be the most similar existing zoning to the proposed use.   

The Comprehensive Plan Current Land Use Map shows Mobile Home for the western mini-storage lot and is undesignated for the eastern mini-storage lot.  The Future Land Use Map shows both lots as General Commercial.  The current and future land use maps are proposed to be reguided as industrial or another appropriate commercial or industrial district.

NOTICE OF HEARING ON PARTIAL VACATION OF 4th AVE SW RIGHT OF WAY IN THE CITY OF MELROSE, MINNESOTA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a Public Hearing will be held before the Council of the City of Melrose, at the City Center on the 16th day of May, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. to hear all persons present upon a petition of a majority of property owners for the vacation of the following: That portion of the 4th Avenue SW located south of 3rd St. SW. and north of Kraft Drive, originally platted as part of Hilt and Borget’s Addition to Melrose, between Blocks 3 and 4 according to the recorded survey and plat as is on file in the office of the Stearns County Recorder. Potentially reserving however, utility and drainage easements in the areas to be vacated. The purpose of the requested vacation is to accommodate Melrose Truck Repair who anticipate acquiring abutting land.
