RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING DATES 

FOR FILING AFFIDAVITS OF CANDIDACY 

BE IT RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 740, State of Minnesota, as follows:

1. The period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 740 shall begin on August 1, 2017 and shall close on August 15, 2017.  An affidavit of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the $2 filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o’clock p.m. on August 15, 2017.

2. The clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of said filing dates to be published in the official newspaper of the district, at least two (2) weeks prior to the first day to file affidavits of candidacy.

3. The clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause notice of said filing dates to be posted at the administrative offices of the school district at least ten (10) days prior to the first day to file affidavits of candidacy.

4. The notice of said filing dates shall be in substantially the following form:

MELROSE AREA SCHOOLS

STATE OF MINNESOTA

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 740 shall begin on August 1, 2017, and shall close at 5:00 o’clock p.m. on August 15, 2017.

The general election shall be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.  At that election, one (1) member will be elected to fill the vacancy on the School Board for a term expiring on the date of the first School Board meeting in January, 2019.  The person elected at the November 7, 2017 election shall take office immediately after receiving the certificate of election, filing the bond, and taking the oath of office.

Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk, 546 5th Avenue NE, Melrose, MN 56352.  The filing fee for this office is $2.  A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the special election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election.

The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5:00 o’clock p.m. on August 15, 2017.

It is Ordered and Notice is given that on July 28, 2017, at 8:45 a.m., a hearing will be held in this Court at:  Stearns County District Court – Courthouse, 715 Courthouse Square, St. Cloud, MN  56303, on a petition for the adjudication of intestacy and determination of Decedent’s heirs, and for the appointment of Susan Stevens, whose address is 3035 Eagandale Place - # 104, Eagan, MN  55121, as personal representative of the Decedent’s estate in an unsupervised administration.

Any objections to the petition must be raised at the hearing or filed with the Court prior to the hearing. If the petition is proper and no objections are filed or raised, the personal representative will be appointed with the full power to administer the Decedent’s estate, including the power to collect all assets; to pay all legal debts, claims, taxes, and expenses; to sell real and personal property; and to do all necessary acts for the Decedent’s estate.

Notice is further given that, subject to Minn. Stat. § 524.3-801, all creditors having claims against the Decedent’s estate are required to present the claims to the personal representative or to the Court within four (4) months after the date of this notice or the claims will be barred.

NOTICE

The City of Melrose wishes to inform the residents that any petitions requesting public improvements for the year of 2018 must be filed with the City Clerk no later than July 21, 2017. The petitions for improvements such as park improvements, wastewater, water mains, street, and curb and gutter will be given consideration in 2017 for improvement in 2018.
