NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids will be received by the City of Melrose at the office of the City Clerk located at, 225 1st Street NE, Melrose, MN 56352 until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2018, and will be publicly opened and read at said time and place by representatives of the City of Melrose.  Said bids are for crop land to be rented, approximately 27.5 acres of the undeveloped Melrose Industrial Park land for the use as crop land.  The minimum bid shall the estimated property taxes owed for the parcels.

No bids will be considered unless submitted with the Melrose City Clerk.  A map of the proposed tillable area, lease agreement / terms and anticipated taxes for the tillable acreage can be obtained by contacting, Mike Brethorst, City Administrator, at the Melrose City Center or by calling 320-256-4278 or via e-mail at admin@cityofmelrose.com.

CORRECTION: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Oak Town Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday May 1, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the Oak Town Hall, located at 28801 Co Rd 30, Freeport, MN 56331.  The purpose of the hearing is to hear from the public, and act to make a recommendation to the Town Board regarding a proposed variance for Gary and Lynn Weiber wishing to build a home at the address 33319 Sandhill Circle. The variance is to include setback changes for property line and road right-of-way changes.

REGARDING PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX 

ABATEMENT

FOR JAMES & 

ELIZABETH ILLIES

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Melrose, Minnesota, will hold a Public Hearing at a regular meeting of the Council beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m., on the 17th day of May, 2018 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 225 First Street SW, Melrose, Minnesota, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 469.1812 through 469.1815, on the request of James & Elizabeth Illies (the “Owner”) to have the City abate to the Owner property taxes to be levied by the City on tax parcel number: 

66.36956.0000

The proposed tax abatement would grant an abatement of existing and increases in property taxes to assist James & Elizabeth Illies in the recovery of the losses and damage suffered by the fire on September 8, 2016.  

The total amount of the taxes proposed to be abated by the City for ten (10) years is $15,000.  The City Council will consider granting property tax abatement in response to the request.

All interested persons may appear at the May 17th Public Hearing and present their views orally or in writing for consideration by the City Council.  If you are unable to attend this hearing, written comments may be submitted to the City Clerk-Treasurer at the above address prior to the hearing.
