Richard Aloys Holzapfel, Age 83. Died Saturday July 11, 2020, at his home in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by his family. Celebration of Life will be held at Duck Lake Pavillion, 61861 232nd Lane, Madison Lake 56063 from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday Aug. 23, 2020.

Richard was born June 1, 1937 to Aloys and Esther (Werner) Holzapfel in Mankato. Richard was united in marriage to Janice I. Petersen on June 2, 1957.

Richard was employed by Sears for 10 years before becoming the manager and part owner of the Hi-Ho Cafe in Sauk Centre in 1969 through 1990. Richard and Janice retired to Texas for six years and now reside in Mesa, Arizona.

Richard enjoyed water skiing while living on Fairy Lake. Richard also enjoyed deer hunting with many friends from Sauk Centre and Canadian fishing with his Highway Patrol buddies and golf days on Thursdays, rain or shine. Many great memories of our Sauk Centre days.

Richard is survived by his wife Janice of 63 years, four children, Debra (Michael) Valle of Mesa, Arizona; Brian (Lori) Holzapfel of Kyle, Texas; Bradley Holzapfel of Monticello, Mark Holzapfel of Highland Village, Texas; four grandchildren, Jordan Holzapfel of Monticello,  Joshua Holzapfel of Monticello, Amanda, (Holzapfel) Szydlik of Houston, Texas; Richard B. Holzapfel of Kyle, Texas; two great grandchildren Audrey and Bryn Szydlik and one sister Louis (Holzapfel) Hoffman of Lafayette.
