Warren Edward Williams, 81, of Sauk Centre, died Sept. 2, 2020 at home. He was born June 5, 1939, to Gordon and Grace (Lee) Williams of Fairmount, North Dakota. His childhood and youth were spent living and working on the family’s Williams Hereford Farms. After high school, Warren spent some time in college and some time traveling, exploring other places. While he was in San Francisco he met Mary Linscheid of Las Cruces, New Mexico, who became his wife July 15, 1967.

Warren and Mary returned to the family farm when his father became ill, and made their home there until his father’s passing. Warren then finished his education at University of Minnesota-Morris, earning a bachelor’s degree in English and education. He taught elementary school in Revillo, South Dakota, for a year and then came to Melrose where he pursued a career in high school and elementary Title 1 education, remaining in Melrose for the rest of his teaching career.

Warren’s lifelong passion was fishing. He enjoyed participating in fishing tournaments and clubs. He learned to build fishing rods, eventually starting a small business making and repairing rods and reels. He developed close friendships with many fellow fishermen.

Warren is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard and a sister, Patricia Orloff. He is survived by his wife, two sons; Justin (Amanda Meyers) of St. Paul, and Tim (Kara) of Inver Grove Heights, along with grandchildren, Sawyer and Sophia, and a sister, Julie Jerger (Dennis) of Barnesville. Warren will be remembered for his kindness and generosity of spirit.
