    On Saturday, the girls traveled to University of Minnesota Morris for the Section True Team meet. The Streeters were up against schools from Sartell, Melrose, Alexandria, Rocori, Minnewaska/Morris, Albany, Little Falls, Holdingford, Apollo and Staples-Motely.

  • Bike repair stations coming to Lake Wobegon Trail

    The Lake Wobegon Trails Association has teamed up with local Lions Clubs and private donors to install bike repair stations in seven towns on the Lake Wobegon Trail this June.

    Jill Klaphake has been surrounded by sports her entire life. Her father, Jim Klaphake, has been the volleyball coach at Sauk Centre High School for 13 years. As a little girl, Klaphake would tag along with her dad to each volleyball practice so she could learn the tricks and basics of the game.

    On Tuesday, the boys and girls track teams traveled to ACGC High School for the West Central Conference meet.

     
  • Close but  not enough
    The Sauk Centre softball squad had a stark reminder that close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades last week as they dropped three of four games by close margins and twice had the tying run thrown out at home plate to end the game.
  • It took eight innings, but the Sauk Centre girls’ softball team outlasted Osakis in an important section match-up last Friday 10-9.
  • The Sauk Centre girls’ golf team was scheduled to play at Minnewaska Golf Club at noon on Monday, May 1, and at Pomme De Terre Golf Club in Morris later that afternoon. Since Minnesota weather is unpredictable, giving us snow in May, the girls made up their meet on Tuesday, playing in 55-degree weather.
  • Baseball games between Sauk Centre and Melrose are almost always close, and Tuesday’s conference clash between the Streeters and Dutchmen was no different. But it was the Streeters who prevailed, fending off a seventh-inning rally to hold on for a 5-4 lead in Melrose.
  • The Sauk Centre Mainstreeters improved to 4-1 in the season last week with three wins tucked around a loss.
  • It took four pitchers, but the Sauk Centre baseball squad got a season-opening win Tuesday against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle thanks to their offense.
  • The Sauk Centre girls and boys track team traveled to Morris yesterday for the 2017 Marv Meyer Invite.

  • Kenzie Schmiesing started off the 2017 girls’ softball campaign in style Tuesday against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle when she hammered the first pitch of the season over the fence for a home run.
  • Sauk Centre wins again Face Roseau for state title By Mark Klaphake The Class AA state championship will be a rematch of the two teams that battled for third place last year. The Sauk Centre Girls Basketball advanced to the championship and will play Roseau after the Streeters rolled past Watertown-Mayer 58-41
