West Central Education District

Board Meeting Minutes

Date: March 13, 2017

Location: Paynesville Elementary School Conference Room

Board Chair Winkels called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Members Storkamp, Abel and Winters were in attendance along with Superintendents Huot, Westby, and Johnson; WCED Director Fevig, Administrator McLellan, 3 WCED staff members and 1 visitor. Superintendent Rich was absent. 

Storkamp moved, Winters seconded to approve the agenda.  Motion carried unopposed. 

Under Reports, the following were discussed: WCED program enrollment; WCED Survey Results; ALC/Beacon program; and a brief update regarding the budget. 

Under New Business, Fevig presented a 2 yr contract for Barb Fischer as the Special Education Supervisor. Storkamp moved, Winters seconded to approve the hiring; motion carried unopposed.  

Winters moved, Abel seconded to approve the resignation from Stefanie Marsh due to medical reasons effective January 1, 2017; motion carried unopposed.

Discussed change in position requirements for support staff at Beacon. Will be hiring a Behavioral Aide with AA degree or extensive experience and not filling the Classroom Para position. 

Fevig presented Chemical Use and Abuse policy #417 for first reading. 

Under Consent Agenda, Winters moved, Storkamp seconded approval of the consent agenda including board minutes from January 26, 2017, balance sheet and Bills Payable #21501-21548. Motion carried. 

Winkels adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
