In the matter of the citizen petition to increase the number of managers of the North Fork Crow River Watershed District (District) pursuant to Minn. Stat. §§ 103D.261 and 103D.305, and;

Whereas, the subject petition received May 5, 2017, has been served on the Board of Water and Soil Resources (Board) pursuant to Minn. Stat. §§ 103D.261 and 103D.305, and;

Whereas, the Board, on July 28, 2017, ordered a public hearing to consider the petition,

Now therefore, the Board hereby issues the following:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing on the petition will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, beginning at 6:30 PM and adjourning no sooner than 7:30PM, at the Paynesville Area Center, 1005 West Main Street, Paynesville, Minnesota. 

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on the petition. At the hearing, all interested persons will be given an opportunity to submit pertinent information before a decision is made on the petition to increase the number of managers of the District.

The petition proposes that the number of managers be increased to seven (7) from the present number of five (5). 

The Board must review the petition for conformance with state law and rule.

A copy of the Petition is available for inspection during normal business hours at the Board’s office located at 110 Second Street South, Suite 307, Waite Park.

NOTICE

The Sauk River Watershed District was recently awarded a Clean Water Fund grant from the State of Minnesota, Board of Water and Soil Resources, to address runoff concerns within the Pope County Ditch 6 watershed. This project includes the drainage systems of Stearns/Pope Judicial Ditch 1 and Pope County Ditch 11 under the jurisdiction of the Sauk River Watershed District. The Pope County Ditch 6 Drainage Management Project provides incentives to finance land use practices focusing on conservation drainage projects that reduce erosion and nutrient runoff.  Practices may include side inlet controls, drainage water management plan, structures for water and sediment control, open tile inlet replacement, buffers adjacent to side inlets, and other approved innovative practices. Funding is time sensitive therefore landowners within this project area are encouraged to contact the Sauk River Watershed District (320-352-2231) if interested in installing a drainage management project.
