Approval of permit, variance for proposed new St. Mary’s Church recommended on Oct. 1 by planning/zoning to city council

            Melrose–In front of a full council chambers, on Oct. 1, the Melrose Planning and Zoning Commission of Jason Seanger, Tony Klasen, Shawn Mayers, Mike Klaphake and Dave Berscheit recommended to the Melrose City Council approval of a Conditional Use Permit and Variance, with conditions, for construction of a proposed new St. Mary’s Church, to be located on the north side of Kraft Drive. 

            City council members are scheduled to discuss the recommendations during their Oct. 18 monthly meeting, which start at 6 p.m. 

            The recommendations came after close to one hour of, at times, emotion-filled testimony during a public hearing on this night.
