SAUK CENTRE – A Sauk Centre man has been charged with criminal sexual conduct.

Elliot James Hill, 36, was arrested Nov. 27 by the Sauk Centre Police Department. He is suspected of having sexual intercourse with an 8-year-old girl. Hill faces one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct for penetration or contact with a person under 13. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years imprisonment and a $40,000 fine.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Stearns County Attorney’s Office, a woman and her daughter reported the suspicion to law enforcement Nov. 26 after the child came home, telling her mom she knew about sex. The child said a girl at school told her about sex and that the girl’s father had participated in the act with the individual.

Authorities interviewed the child in question at Central Minnesota Child Advocacy Center, where the child disclosed that her father had abused her several times since June 2018. The child’s mother was also interviewed, saying her daughter never wanted to leave her side and that Hill would sometimes sleep with the child when she was downstairs with the couple’s infant.

Hill admitted to authorities that he was an alcoholic but said he did not remember what he did when he was drunk.

Hill’s first court appearance was Nov. 29. As of Friday afternoon, no date has been set for his next appearance. Hill is in custody at the Stearns County Jail with a bail set of $100,000.

Hill was cited for misdemeanor domestic assault in June 2016.
