Roman William Primus went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, with his family at his home on the farm at the age of 89 years old.

Roman was born Feb. 12, 1933, to William and Rose (Meyer) Primus of rural Melrose. He was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He attended St. Boniface Elementary School and graduated from Melrose High School. He moved with his parents to rural Long Prairie, joined St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and began dairy farming in 1951. Roman married Claire Katherine Haasser on May 22, 1956, and they were blessed with 66 years together. The two raised their family on the farm in rural Long Prairie. Roman enjoyed singing in the church choirs and being a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors, playing cards, and always had a good joke or two. Being a father and grandpa brought great joy to his life. Roman lived by humble example, sharing faithfulness, love and kindness, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Roman leaves behind his loving wife, Claire; children, Mary (Roger) Thundershield, Anne Villalobos, Dominic (Lori) Primus, Maurita Primus, John (Geralyn) Primus, Peter Primus, Luke (Jenny) Primus and Charles (Amanda) Primus; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and siblings, Joseph (Catherine) Primus, Rose Schmiesing and Betty Moscho, as well as numerous in-laws.

He was welcomed into heaven by his infant daughter, Mary Carmel; parents, William and Rose Primus; siblings, Alphonse Primus, Regina Wessel, Sr. Oranda Primus OSB, Albert Primus, Alcuin Primus, Sr. Lynette Primus OSB, Urban Primus, and numerous in-laws.
