Doris A. Elfering, 81, of St. Anna, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family Dec. 9, 2022, at her home in St. Anna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany with the Rev. Julius Beckermann, O.S.B., officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m., Dec. 17, at the Seven Dolors Gathering Area in Albany.

Doris Alma Ricker was born Dec. 12, 1940, in St. Joseph to Claude and Hildegard Jonas. She attended Holy Family Parochial School and graduated from Albany High School in 1958. At the age of 14, Doris began working at the movie theater in Albany. She worked there throughout her high school years. Doris was married June 18, 1960, and later divorced. Doris worked in many customer related fields through the years including, Dayton’s, Menards, St. John’s Food Service and Jennie-O.

She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Doris loved to travel and learn about new places and things. She always kept up on politics and enjoyed learning about past wars and American history.

Survivors include children Gail (Ryan) Olson of Richmond, Dan Elfering (fiancé Lila Lee Dvorak)of Alexandria, and Susan (Wayne) Schwinghammer of St. Augusta; six grandchildren Lori Alberg, Sarah Locnikar, Amy Busse, Ryan Elfering, Kyle Elfering and Zachary Buettner; four great-grandchildren Logan Alberg, Paige Alberg, Cade Busse and Tyson Kuhnau-Elfering; and brothers Ronald (JoAnne) Ricker of St. Cloud, and Lloyd (Sheila) Ricker of Paynesville.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sister Arlene Jungmann and son-in-law Kelly Fleming.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services of Melrose.
