David Herman Schmidt
Services for David Schmidt, 75, of Marshall, will be held at a future date.
David Herman Schmidt was born Feb. 17, 1947, in Melrose, to August and Marie (Brake) Schmidt. He grew up and graduated from Melrose High School. David later obtained his vocational technical degree as a diesel mechanic. He was a lifelong truck driver and drove for several local companies. He was retired for the last seven years. David was very generous and always willing to help others. He enjoyed making loom scarves, doing word search puzzles and listening to Johnny Cash music. He was a proud father and grandfather.
David died unexpectedly May 31, 2022, at his residence in Marshall.
He is survived by his 38-year companion Julie Slaughter of Marshall; children A.J. Schmidt of Prinsburg, and Kristina (and Terrill) of Marshall; grandchildren Kogan, Ramara and Bradley; siblings Raymond Schmidt of Avon, Jerome, Judy, Mary and Debbie Schmidt of Melrose, Conrad Schmidt of St. Cloud and Sandy (and Dave) Thielen of Hawick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements were made with Horvath Funeral Service in Marshall.
