Agatha M. Kunstleben, 95, of New Munich, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Dec. 17, 2021, at the Tree of Life Assisted Living in New Munich.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, June 17, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich with the Rev. Daniel Walz officiating. Inurnment will be held in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m., June 17, at the church.
Agatha Mary Statz was born Jan. 5, 1926, in Munson Township, Stearns County, to Leonard and Anna (Vossen) Statz. She was united in marriage to Claude Kunstleben June 21, 1950, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Claude and Agatha farmed six miles south of Albany for 54 years, until 1987 when they retired and moved to New Munich.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich and the Christian Mothers in both Farming and New Munich. Agatha enjoyed quilting, playing bingo, going to auctions and bazaars and playing cards, especially smear and 500. She was known for her apple pies. Prior to becoming a resident of Tree of Life, Agatha enjoyed visiting and playing cards with the residents there.
Survivors include her children, Diane (Gerald) Hoppe of St. Cloud, Mary Hoppe of Albany, Annette (Arnold, Jr.) Roering of New Munich, Jane (Loren) Niehoff of Melrose, Jeffrey Kunstleben of Albany, Elaine (Francis) Funk of Sauk Centre, Richard “Rick” (Carol) Kunstleben of Rockville, and Angela (Ralph) Moscho of St. Augusta; 29 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; sister Anna Schmitt of Richmond; and sister-in-law Clara Statz of Richmond.
Agatha was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Kunstleben on June 2, 2006; parents; brothers and sisters Leona Funk, Thomas Statz, Arnold Statz and Gregory Statz; son-in-law Alvin Hoppe; and infant twin granddaughter Mary Ellen Kunstleben.
