Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Ploeger, 80, passed peacefully Nov. 9, 2022, of COVID-related pneumonia and Lewy Body Dementia.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, at Riderwood Chapel, 3110 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, Maryland.
Kathy was born in Melrose and graduated from St. Cloud State University. While teaching kindergarten in Ham Lake, she became pen pals with a student’s uncle serving in Vietnam, at the insistence of the parent, Chiquita Ploeger. Chuck and Kathy married just nine months after he returned home. They spent half of the next 53 years in the Twin Cities before moving to Taunton, Massachusetts, where Kathy continued her lifelong passion of teaching kindergarten. Kathy and Chuck were also active behind-the-scenes with the local summer theater company, Star Players of Taunton. They moved to Silver Spring in 2020, where Chuck still resides.
She was preceded in death by sister Delores Richards; brother Alfred Revermann; mother Violet (Becker) Revermann; and father Bernard Revermann, of Melrose.
She is survived by husband, Charles Duane Ploeger; children Travis (Melissa Reichley), Trevor (Kathy Twomey),and Tricia (Dave Eastman, fiancé); grandchildren Benjamin, Henry and Jason; and sister Laurel Roering of Eagan.
