Joseph G. Meyer
Joseph George Meyer, 63, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, surrounded by beautiful lakes and nature in Hackensack, Minnesota. Joe grew up on the family dairy farm in Sauk Centre, a town he often referred to as where his roots were. He graduated from Melrose High School in 1976, and joined the U.S. Marine Corp in July of 1977, where he served four years of active duty. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp Reserves in March of 1981. He worked on the family farm until 1984. Joe worked as a Master Tradesman all over the U.S. and lived in Texas, Pennsylvania and Idaho before returning to Minnesota in 2004. He retired to Willis, Texas in October 2021 to be near his children and grandchildren. He was visiting family in Minnesota and enjoying the beautiful summer camping when he passed.
Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa (Fuchs) Meyer; his father, Julian Meyer; his brothers Mark Meyer and Michael Meyer.
He is survived by his daughter Carrie Sintek, her husband Ben Sintek, and grandson Ryan Sintek; his second daughter Leslie Young, her husband, and granddaughter Julie Young; his sisters, Elaine Benusa, Diane Russell, Kathie Meyer and Mary Fletcher; his brothers, Paul Meyer and John Meyer.
Joe requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Joe’s friends and family join us in celebrating his extraordinary life at the Lynx National Golf Course in Sauk Centre from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022.
